We are a dance school located in Haringey. We facilitate a specialist Theatre- Dance training Through African and contemporary dance. We hold weekly classes for toddlers, children and adolescents.
Our classes are suitable for complete beginners and are equally as suitable for highly experienced dancers. Whether you are looking for a dance class to support your child in gaining confidence or your child is looking to be towards a career in the performing arts and wants to be in a creatively stimulating environment our versatile experience and our unique model of teaching allows us to accommodate and support all participants in actualising their destination. We hold an inclusive practice and we welcome disabled and non-disabled young dancers to our classes.
We are inspired by our ongoing experiences of learning and teaching dance across Southern Africa. Young people attending our sessions will have the opportunity to work in partnership (via an exchange program using digital technology and film making) with our sister school 'Umhlabathi Arts ' in Zimbabwe.
Our classes offer an enriching dance education where participants gain dance technique, theatre skills and creative exploration. We have developed a unique facilitation style over the past 10 years that combines set technique and improvisation.
We use technique from contemporary dance, African dance and hip-hop styles - the classes integrate improvisation in order to facilitate a learning process where participants develop their kinaesthetic skills and awareness. Our classes emphasise relational aspects of dance - this supports our participants in a journey of developing an increased self- esteem and group theatre skills.
